William Penn Softball Brings Intense Action to the Lacey Rec ...

William Penn took on Indian Hills in two exhibition games Tuesday evening (photo submitted)

The academic school year is well underway for William Penn University and the coaches have been hard at work with their athletic teams.

Mike Christner, William Penn head softball coach, has 31 girls out this year between the Varsity and JV teams. Christner had them out at the Lacey Recreation Complex at the end of August to start off season practice. The team is working hard and has brought lots of intensity to the field while working on drills at the Lacey Recreation Complex. Varsity and Junior Varsity have been participating in many scrimmages during the month of September and last night the varsity team played Indian Hills Community College. The Lady Statesman came out on top and are looking forward to playing many more games during the spring season.

Be sure to check out the Lacey Recreation Complex calendars on Team Mahaska Online for dates and times of local sporting events located at Lacey.
