This unique cat breed is identifiable by its folded ears. The Scottish Fold cat breed has a natural gene mutation that causes its ears to be folded forward. They have a medium-sized, rounded body with a medium to long, dense and plush coat. These cats were originally called lop-eared, or lops, after the lop-eared rabbit but gained their name in 1966.
The Scottish Fold breed originated in 1961 when a white barn cat was found in Scotland with folded ears.
