All those well wishes paid off.

Just days after undergoing a double lumpectomy, during which she also had some lymph nodes removed for biopsy, Giuliana Rancic is back in the house! She returned to work Monday morning and will resume her anchor duties on E! News Monday night.

"I'm so thrilled to get back to work and return to my E! family today," Giuliana told E! News. "I still have a long road ahead, but thanks to everyone's overwhelming love, support and prayers, it will be an easier journey."

MORE: Christina Applegate has offered support to her fellow breast cancer survivor

"The E! viewers have helped me to get through this and stay strong more than they will ever know and I will be eternally grateful to them for their love," she said.

The Fashion Police cohost went public with her breast cancer diagnosis on Oct. 17. She underwent the surgery late last week, and, according to husband Bill Rancic, was placed on bed rest while she recuperated.

So what's next for everyone's favorite entertainment maven?

Bill said that his missus is expected to start radiation in about a month, "after she heals and has her strength back."

"She pulled through it and was kind of relieved to get it over with and get the cancer out and is doing well at home," Bill said.

"She's a fighter and will come back stronger and better than before."

Prior to her surgery, Giuliana told her E! News tag-team partner Ryan Seacrest the same thing, noting that "I feel like such a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders."

The vast and wide-ranging support she received from all corners of Hollywood (and beyond) no doubt helped in her recovery.

Her official return to the airwaves happens tonight on E! News at 7 p.m. ET/PT. Couldn't be happier to have you back, Giuliana!

Northern lights take unusual trip down south

(AP) ? A baffling solar storm pulled colorful northern lights unusually far south, surprising space weather experts.

TV stations in Georgia and Kentucky reported people calling about the sky show Monday night. And NASA posted a photo from Huntsville, Ala. Southerners normally don't get to see the vibrant red and green aurora borealis.

Officials at the federal Space Environment Center in Boulder, Colo., said they were surprised at the southern reach. The center monitors solar storms, which trigger auroras.

Space weather forecast chief Bob Rutledge said given the size of the solar storm that occurred last night, the lights probably shouldn't have been visible south of Iowa. Rutledge said the storm was unusual, its effects reaching Earth faster than forecast. The storm caused no damage to technology as it sometimes does.

Turkey 7.2, 6.0 Earthquakes and Japan, Spain, Tonga Quakes FAQs (ContributorNetwork)

A magnitude 7.3 earthquake hit Turkey Sunday close to the Iranian border, killing at least 138 people. Many more are missing. At a news conference, Mustafa Erdik, the general manager of Kandilli Observatory, said that based on a previous magnitude 7.2 earthquake, he fears thousands are dead in Van, a city of 1 million people. Van Mayor Bekir Kaya said "We can't assess the entire damage immediately," as locals had jammed the phones because of the massive panic.

A 6.0 aftershock also hit the area. There have been other recent deadly earthquakes.

South Pacific Island of Nuku'Alofa, Tonga -- 7.6 on Oct. 21

This quake hit off the coast of Nuku'Alofa, Tonga, an island in the South Pacific about 122 miles from Kermadec Islands, a volcanic range in New Zealand. There was no damage. With a depth of 24 miles, it created a tsunami alert that officials quickly canceled. A tsunami was recorded to have happened, according to reports of the ocean's levels, said the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

Japan -- 9.0 on March 11

The earthquake off the nation's coast caused a massive tsunami to make its way to the U.S. The quake was not only deadly, but it was massive as well. Shifting the island so it now rests 13 feet closer to the U.S., the quake knocked Earth off its axis, making days shorter by 1.6 milliseconds.

The quake and its many aftershocks, some of which registered as strong as 7.2, damaged the Fukushima nuclear plant. Officials issued a nuclear evacuation order to the surrounding towns a few days after the quake. More than 10,000 are confirmed dead and hundreds of thousands more were injured, missing or homeless. In the last 30 days, 49 earthquakes have hit the area, with magnitudes of 4.0 to 5.3, although none has done much damage.

Spain -- 4.5 and 5.3 on May 11

Two relatively small earthquakes hit Spain south of Murcia. Both earthquakes were shallow, originating from a previously unknown fault line 1 kilometer deep. When the earthquake is shallow, it causes more shaking, which is why officials attribute the shallowness to the massive damages and recorded deaths. This general area of Spain has a history of strong earthquakes, with last strongest quake recorded on April 11 2010, a magnitude 6.3.

Epic Geomagnetic Storm Erupts

astroengine writes "On Monday, at around 2 p.m. ET, a coronal mass ejection (CME) slammed into the Earth's magnetosphere. For a short time (between 3:06 p.m and 3:11 p.m. ET), energetic solar wind particles penetrated as deep as geosynchronous orbit ? home to hundreds of communication satellites. As a consequence, a geomagnetic storm is underway, generating bright aurorae across very low latitudes." Adds reader dtmos, quoting from Spaceweather, which also has a beautiful photo gallery: "'The impact strongly compressed Earth's magnetic field, directly exposing geosynchronous satellites to solar wind plasma, and sparked an intense geomagnetic storm. As night fell over North America, auroras spilled across the Canadian border into the contiguous United States.' Aurora were seen as far south as Baileyton, Alabama."

Google co-founder finally most popular on Google+

Google+

By Rosa Golijan

The mood at Google Headquarters must be celebratory right now. After all, one of the company's co-founders is finally more popular on Google+?than Mark Zuckerberg, the man behind Facebook.

It was slightly amusing ? at least to those of us who enjoy simple irony???that Mark Zuckerberg managed to stay on top of both Larry Page and Sergey Brin for so long, but a site called?Google+ Statistics?reveals that the joke's over.

Google+ Statistics has been tracking the popularity of Google+ users based on how often they're "circled" from the very start and while its numbers lag a bit behind the action, it does already show Page as the champion of the leader board:

Google+ Statistics

Zuckerberg is in a close second, followed by musicians Britney Spears and Snoop Dogg. Google's other co-founder, Brin, is stuck in fifth place.

No word as to how Page finally beat Zuckerberg or why Brin is less loved than a guy who likes to end words with -izzle and a gal who spends more time on tabloid covers than concert stages.
