There are millions of diatoms on the planet. They have a huge impact on society even though these organisms are incredibly small in stature. They leave behind a pair of symmetrical shells in the form of fossils whenever they die. One of these frustules, as they are called, isn?t large enough to accomplish anything with, but when millions of these remains start piling up, they become what has come to be known as diatomaceous earth. The original discoverer, back in around 1837, thought he had discovered limestone which could have been used as fertilizer, but he was wrong, and he couldn?t imagine a use for the substance he had found.
The substance was available in large amounts and individuals soon found uses for it. One of these uses was to make a safer version of dynamite. ?It was also noticed to have excellent filtering capabilities. However, diatomaceous earth filtration still hadn?t come into its own.
Diatomaceous earth makes an excellent filtering medium thanks to the fact that it is very porous. You can use diatomaceous earth to get rid of tiny particles that ordinary filter paper can?t. It has been widely used in chemical filtration as well as in the process of decontaminating water. The water in fish tanks and swimming pools can be cleaned with this substance. It doesn?t alter liquids in any way, so it?s also commonly used to filter wine, sugar, honey, and syrup. Diatomaceous earth is also used to make soaps, paints, and paper.
This material occurs naturally in nature and is available in large amounts. The western United States has plenty of it. ?Other places like Denmark and the Sahara Desert have plenty to offer too. Using DE as a filtering medium means you won?t be doing any damage to the earth.
There are numerous other uses that have been found for DE. Metal cleaners, toothpastes, insecticides, and facial scrubs commonly include the substance. As time passes, many more uses will undoubtedly be found for this material that is so abundant on our planet.Doc No.lkhjsdklsd-ssj
