Summer Baseball: Two for Turgeon

Reed Turgeon hit two home runs in a nine-run fourth inning as Franklin routed host Westwood 17-3 in a Zone 6 West Legion game last night.

Brian Campbell and Brendan Skidmore had back-to-back homers in the fifth inning, as Skidmore finished with four RBIs for Franklin (7-6-1). Brandon Ecker went 3-for-4 with two runs, and Marc Mele picked up the win with a complete game for Post 75.

NEWTON 8, HUDSON 1: Jake Wardwell had two singles and an RBI for Hudson (3-6) in a Zone 5A loss at Newton .

SENIOR BABE RUTH

WESTBOROUGH 8, FRANKLIN 7: Winning pitcher Kevin Blackney scored the winning run in a four-run sixth inning as visiting Westborough (4-5) rallied to edge Franklin (5-5) in a CMSBR non-division matchup.

Scott Erickson hit a two-run double in four-run fourth inning and scored a run, Brendan Black had an RBI single in the sixth, Greg Alves had an RBI single, and Tyler Slicklen went 2-for-2 with a walk, two stolen bases and scored a run for the Scorpions. Slicklen also earned the save with a scoreless seventh.

Franklin took a 6-4 lead with five runs in the fifth.

SUDBURY 7, ASHLAND 2: Danny Nobile went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Matt Hall tossed a six-hitter with four strikeouts as Sudbury (6-5) defeated host Ashland (4-5) in a CMSBR North game.

Mike Litchtenstein went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Avery Seltzer went 1-for-1 with an RBI for Ashland.

NATICK 12, HOPKINTON 1: Steve Venezia scattered eight hits with seven strikeouts and David Reynolds had three hits and an RBI as Natick (2-5) routed Hopkinton (1-8) in a CMSBR North non-division game mercy ruled in the seventh inning.

Tommy Ranucci had two hits and two RBIs for Natick. Roddy Towner hit an RBI single and Adam Weiner had three hits for Hopkinton.

MEDFIELD 14, HOLLISTON 0 (5 INN.): Bobby Tella threw a no-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk as Medfield (6-3-1) blanked host Holliston (0-10) in a CMSBR non-division game mercy ruled in the fifth.

Mike Sancomb pitched well for Holliston.

Tim Haggerty had two hits and two RBIs, and Remy Fragola had two hits, an RBI and scored a run for Medfield.

BELLINGHAM 7, MILFORD 0: In a showdown for first place in the Central Mass. Senior Babe Ruth South Division, Connor Birch threw a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks allowed as Bellingham (9-1) blanked visiting Milford (8-2).

Birch also went 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBIs, Kyle Goulet went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Tyler Smith hit a two-run single in a four-run second inning for Bellingham.

Cam Cossette had a single for two-time defending CMSBR champion Milford.
